Après une campagne marquée par de vives tensions avec le maire sortant Mathieu Hanotin (PS), l’ancien cadre de la RATP reprend les clés de la ville la plus peuplée de Seine-Saint-Denis. Au programme de son mandat : une possible remise en cause de la fusion avec Pierrefitte-sur-Seine via un référendum local. « De Saint-Denis doit jaillir l’étincelle », a lancé Jean-Luc Mélenchon lors de la célébration. Une victoire “KO” qui redessine la carte politique de l’Île-de-France.

Following a high-tension campaign against outgoing mayor Mathieu Hanotin (PS), the former RATP executive takes over the most populous city in the Seine-Saint-Denis region. On his agenda: a potential reversal of the merger with Pierrefitte-sur-Seine through a local referendum. “From Saint-Denis must spring the spark,” declared Jean-Luc Mélenchon during the celebrations. A “knockout” victory that reshapes the political landscape of the Paris region.
